Rotary Disk Reactor Plus Dryer (RDRD) For Production of Microbial Cellulose Using Fruit Pomace as Substrate

The use of tray method in traditional production of microbial cellulose has problems especially for large scale commercialization. rotary disk reactor plus dryer (RDRD) is a new method to increase the production of microbial cellulose. Furthermore, RDRD dryer component is capable to monitor the water content in the cellulose produced before further processing.

Production of microbial cellulose receiving great attention for applications in many fields. Traditional method using static culture in trays has a problem Especially for production in larger scale. This innovation is an alternative method for enhanced production of microbial cellulose. This is a modified concept of Rotating Biological contactor that has been used in waste water treatment. Rotating disks alternately soaks the organisms in nutrient medium and exposes them to air. The RDRD is re-engineered making it capable to educe water content in microbial cellulose by adding heating component on it. It gives many advantages such as higher production yield, less labor requirement and easy to scale up. Moreover, it is easy to operate and wisely combining two unit operations. Furthermore, the process uses pineapple waste as substrate - an advantage to generate wealth from waste. The price of cellulose increases every years. Hence it is important to find method to scale up the production of microbial cellulose with lower production cost.

RFID System for Metallic Object Detection with Triple-band Dipole Antenna and Artificial Magnetic

This innovation is to detect metallic objects. The Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) is a ground plane (GP) for the printed dipole antenna to prevent the performance degradation of tags caused by metallic objects. A triple-band dipole antenna with straight and meander structures at 0.92GHz, 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz are developed. Then, two new structures of AMC are developed; single-band AMC called zigzag dipole and dual-band AMC called rectangular-patch with rectangular and I-shaped slot. The power received from the dipole antenna with AMC GP is higher than power received of dipole antenna without AMC GP. Besides, a longer reading distance is achieved for the dipole tag antenna backed by the AMC structures.

Reduced Size Active Antenna Beam Forming Networks using Cascaded Butler Matrices

The present invention is aimed to provide a smart antenna with multiple beams for vehicle communication system. It uses Butler matrices to improve higher signal-to-interference ratio. Signal entering one port of the Butler matrix is divided into equal parts before the signal is amplified and then recombined by the combining Butler matrix. Size reduction of branch-line coupler technique using eight two-step stubs is being proposed for practical mobile device applications. In comparison to the conventional hybrid couplers, this coupler offers lower insertion loss and a 25% reduction in built circuit area. Additional degrees of design freedom can be obtained by the inclusion of shunt open stubs, forming the reason for the major reduction in size.

Production of Instant Fruit Powder (Pineapple) using Combined of Microwave-Spray Dryer Process

Microwave-spray dryer technique is a new feasible alternative that was developed in this research to improve powder product quality,and overcome the use of high inlet temperatures due to the potential of thermal degradation of the product.The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of microwave combined with spray darter method on quality of pineapple product and study the development of new type microwave combined with spray dryer.It was discovered that the pineapple product dried at different microwave power intensities was found possible for commercial production of tropical fruit powder.Although the microwave spray drying resulted in some darkening of the powder color,compared to the fresh juice,a good yellow-wish color was maintained.The optimum drying process variables within the experimental ranges would be the inlet air temperature of 205??C,microwave power intensity of 455Watt and feed flow rate of 19ml/min.Under these conditions,the pineapple powder was 5.01% moisture content,0.55g/ml ulk density and 54sec powder solubility.Consequently,these results of dependent variables were complied with standard food requirement.

Preliminary Study on Electricity Generation by Using Microbial Fuel Cell

Fossil fuel has conquered the majority of the world commodity trade as it is the main energy resource in human daily life for the past few decades.It was originated from the deep layer of our earth crust and being exploited,and commercialized to fulfill global energy demand.However,the fossil fuel price is raising high for the past few years.Excessive carbon dioxide emission due to fossil fuel consumption causes green house effects and drastic global climate change.Hence,researchers have turned their interest on green energy studies.MFC is a biological approach to produce electric power by consuming organic substances such as polysaccharides. Typical MFC consist of two chambers; the anaerobic anode chamber and aerobic cathode chamber. In anodic chamber,microbes and substrates (fuel) are present to react and generate electrons through anaerobic metabolism. This chamber is design to avoid the contact of proton produced with the electron acceptor (oxygen).In absence of electron acceptor,anode becomes the only electron acceptor.Microbial activity produces carbon dioxide as the oxidation product.however, the CO??? emitted is originated from the biomass substrate which is renewable and originally comes from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. In the other words,this approach offers a zero net carbon dioxide emission.Electron generated in the metabolism pathway is channeled to the anode chamber through a resisted wire circuit.Normally,to assist the electron transfer from intracellular to anode surface,a mediator (artificial electron shuttles) is added.As electrons is transferred to cathode chamber,electron acceptor (oxygen normally)will react with protons flowing from anode compartment through Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) to form water.The reaction takes place on the cathode.

In the year of 2000, the world is moving towards managing the existing technologies. The management level becomes higher and smarter and so the demand of such services. The development of internet related application has also shown great increase of demand. And it covers almost every aspect of management. Distance is getting shorter and time is running faster. Everything can be remotely accessed and controlled via a single click by our finger.
Thus it is crucial to have an automated system which is able to detect the disturbances in the power signal such as sag, swell, flicker, interruption, harmonics and transient. This helps O&M personnel to accurately response to faults or failure and restores them timely. For further analysis, the National Control Center (NCC) server running NCC server software will fetch this information from RCC via the corporate wide LAN. Power disturbance analysis, outages and faults data can be prepared for management reporting.
