Kaedah Pengawalan Spesies Crown-Of-Thorns (COT) Starfish

Penyelidik darI FRI Bintawa bersama dengan Sabah Parks
telah berjaya mencipta satu kaedah membunuh COT dengan kos
yang rendah, menjimatkan masa, mudah, mesra alam dan dapat
digunakan oleh penyelam rekreasi. Kaedah yang digunakan adalah suntikan sodium bisulfate ke atas individu COT.
Sebelum kaedah ini digunapakai di laut atau lapangan, satu kajian in-vitro ke atas 6 spesimen COT dewasa di makmal juga dijalankan. 4 spesimen tadi disuntik dengan sodium bisulfate dan 2 individu lain dijadikan sebagai piawai dan tidak disuntik. Pemerhatian ke atas 6 spesimen ini dilakukan selama 24 jam. Kaedah ini juga digunapakai di lapangan untuk melihat keberkesanannya untuk membunuh haiwan ini. Soal selidik dengan kakitangan resort juga di lakukan untuk membandingkan kaedah yang pernah di praktikkan. Kos bahan untuk menggunakan kaedah ini yang boleh diangap murah dan efektif selepas mengambil kira faktor tenaga dan masa berbanding dengan kaedah-kaedah lain.

Bubu Ikan Lipat Sarawak(Sarawak Collapsible Fish Trap)

Satu inovasi yang dinamakan Bubu Ikan Lipat Sarawak telah berjaya dibangunkan oleh FRI Bintawa Sarawak. Pada tahun 2006. Inovasi ini masih ditambah baik sehingga 2010. Idea asal inovasi ini tercetus semasa perlaksanaan projek penyelidikan bertajuk Pembangunan Teknologi Penangkapan Ikan di Kawasan Terumbu dan Dasar Kasar. Kerangka utama bubu ikan yang direka ini diperbuat daripada rod besi yang mempunyai ketebalan 10 mm yang sangat kuat dan tahan lama. Kerangka yang diperbuat daripada besi bertindak untuk menguatkan
struktur bubu dan membantu menstabilkan bubu ini di dasar lautan terutama semasa keadaan laut yang bergelora. Kerangka kompartmen tangkapan diperbuat daripada rod besi berdiameter 3 mm. Batang besi ini boleh dilipat mengikut saiz dan bentuk kompartmen. Kerangka utama dan kompartmen tangkapan ikan dilitupi dengan jaring polyethylene 36 ply dan saiz mata jaring 3 inci. Struktur separa bulat dan gelang dibina pada kerangka utama bubu bagi membolehkan rangka bubu dilipat dengan mudah.

Wi3D Planning Tool

The Wi3D Planning Tool can be used by wireless designers to reduce the time consuming site surveys tasks, especially the multiple floors indoor enviroment, ans it is programmed to help designers to calculate the link budget, including the attenuation from the monitored live enviroment and from the planned simulation. The rapid increase in the volume of use for synthetic polymers has contributed to the solid waste management problems. There is a growing trend on potential marketing benefits of green and sustainable products, reduction in carbon dioxide gas emissions and the conservation of the earth's fossil resources. Polymers prepared from renewable and sustainable resources can be designed, synthesized, and engineered by enviromentally compatible routes and can disposed after service life of the product by degradation (composting, etc). Poly (lactic acid)(PLA) has attracted great interest due to its renewable resources, biocompatibility and bio degradability. Underwater Electric Propulsion

ROVs nad AUVs are intensively being used in the offshore oil and gas exploration and production, underwater pipeline monitoring and maintenance, surveillance nad rescue operation, military operation, marine and enviromental impact assessments, salvage operation and hydrographic survey. The electrical actuators provide several advantages in comparison with mechanically actuated systems. In this project, we have designed, developed and prototyped an electrically actuated thruster as a direct drive propulsion system based on a 3-phase permanent magnet brusless machine for underwater applications. The non-linear design and analysis of the permanents magnet brussless motor are entirely performed in propeller, thus providing a peak thrust of 25N for the underwater manoeurve. Critical maximum output torque and efficiency at 48Vdc battery supply. Other electromagnetic considerations such as maximum speed capability, maximum output torque and efficiency at 48Vdc battery supply. Other electromagnetic considerations such as cogging torque, slot numbers and pole numbers are also addressed. Half-effect sensors are embedded inside the motor structure in order for the motor to successfully operate in bldc mode. The optimized motor design has been prototyped and tested to work as direct drive propulsion system. The results obtained from the experiment conducted in laboratory in an open water testbed show satisfactory performance with a rated 15N continual bollard thrust at 1200rpm motor speed.

TORQ-P.com

TORQ-P.com based on Cu-NbC conductor composite was fabricated from Cu-Nb-C powders using a new high pressure torsion process. A mixture of the Cu-Nb-C powders was placed in circular holder of 20mm diameter and 0.25mm depth at the lower anvil of the HPT facility. The mixture of powders was then compacted at am extreme high pressure of 5 GPa and simultaneously rotated under the imposed pressure of 5 GPa at a rotation speed of 0.5 rpm. No process control agents were used and the powders (and consolidated sample) were only in contact with the anvil at the sample surface. After 20 turns of HPT, in situ Cu-NbC composite was formed with full density and without any contamination. The Cu-NbC composite was annealed at 700 degree of Celsius for 1h. The best ever reported combination of electrical conductivity (68% IACS) and tensile strength (622 MPa) for such composites was obtained in a sample of composition Cu-1 vol% NbC.

THERMOILSET: A Flexible Bio-Epoxy

There are some alternative to flexible PVC such as thermoplastic elastromers, ethylene vinyl acetate and metallocene catalyzed polyolefins. Nevertheless, these PVC alternaties also lead to undesireable enviromentak issues. Techniques for enhancing efficiency of cellular phone antenna

By choosing the second resonance frequency, the antenna gain is increased. This is effective for the frequency of 1.5 GHz to 2.5 Ghz. The bandwidth is enough for IMT2000 and the input impedance of 50 ohms. The advantages of the antenna are the design is simple, better gain compared to normal helical antenna and physically strong and flexible. A formula to relate the resonance frequency and the design parameters has been found. by having a reflector, the performance of the antenna is improved by 3 dB. The antenna radiation pattern can be deviated so that the beam is radiating forward and therefore less energy is heating the user`s head.
