Sustainable Technology for Reduction of Ammonia Pollution in the Environment

This work reports simple techniques of isolating fulvic acid (FA) and humic acid (HA) from decomposed organic materials and the ability of these organic acids in controlling ammonia loss from urea. FA and HA could be isolated in 7 h instead of 2-7 days. FA reduced ammonia loss by 50% compared to urea alone. It also cause the highest retention of ammonium and nitrate. There was 100% ammonia volatilization control. urea-N use efficiency was 30-40%.

Breakthrough in isolation of Humic Substance

Agricultural wastes such as sao, pineapple annd rice straw are produces in large quantities but these wastes are yet to be properly managed and utilized. As an example, for every 100 kg of sago starch in pith, there are 10 kg of wastes and these wastes are likely to be discarded into rivers ans streams because most of the sago factories are built near rivers and streams. This practice may cause water and other related enviromental pollution. To this end, a zero waste management approach was devised to manage wastes of these kinds.

FO-ver merupakan singkatan daripada perkataan Float Over.Ciptaan ini berkaitan dengan tiang yang diletakkan di tepi jalan yang memberi isyarat atau amaran kepada pengguna jalan raya untuk mengelakkan melompat ke dalam sungai atau parit semasa banjir.Sekiranya berlaku banjir, terdapat insiden di mana orang atau kenderaan terjatuh dari jalan raya ke dalam longkang atau sungai kerana jarak penglihatan kurang pada permukaan jalan.Jadi,FO-ver bertindak sebagai tiang jalan sementara bagi memberi isyarat selain menunjukkan paras air banjir kepada pengguna jalan raya.FO- ver mempunyai 3 bahagian utama iaitu silinder utama , silinder sekunder dan silinder tertier yang disusun seperti 'nested doll'. Setiap bahagian mempunyai diameter yang berbeza dan diletakkan bersama-sama ke dalam satu sama lain secara teleskopik. FO-ver akan meningkat dengan ketinggian air . Semasa banjir , air akan masuk di bahagian bawah Fo-ver. Jadi sekiranya berlaku banjir, walaupun jalan sudah diliputi air banjir , FO-ver boleh dilihat oleh pengguna jalan raya. Lampu LED di bahagian atas FO-ver juga dinyalakan untuk memberikan amaran kepada pengguna.Paras air (dalam meter ) juga ditunjukkan pada badan FO- ver.
