Sistem Maklumat Inventori

Sistem Maklumat Inventori (SISMAI) telah dibangunkan pada
tahun 2004 oleh Institut Penyelidikan Perikanan Malaysia (FRI) bagi merekod maklumat aset yang terdapat di FRI, Batu Maung, Pulau Pinang. Sistem ini mampu untuk menyimpan rekod serta mempunyai kemudahan penyediaan laporan aset. Sistem ini
dibangunkan dengan menggunakan platform Microsoft Access versi 2002. Maklumat yang direkodkan adalah butiran perolehan aset, penempatan, penyelenggaraan, pelupusan, serta pemeriksaan yang terdapat dalam kad aset Kew. 312. Sistem ini menyediakan kemudahan carian melalui pilihan nombor siri, item, kategori aset serta nama pegawai. Catatan berkaitan pembaikan peralatan dapat direkodkan dengan baik bagi membantu proses pertimbangan pelupusan kelak. Menggunakan kaedah ini dapat menjimatkan tempoh masa carian, pengumpulan maklumat serta menjimatkan ruang penyimpanan fail secara fizikal. Laporan-laporan berkaitan aset seperti jumlah aset dan kos dapat dihasilkan dalam tempoh yang singkat memandangkan sistem ini mempunyai kemudahan untuk penyediaan maklumat tersebut. FRI telah berjaya merekod semua aset ke dalam sistem ini bagi membantu kerja-kerja penyelenggaraan aset.

Fish Profile Information System

Fish Profile Information Sistem merupakan pangkalan data yang
telah dibangunkan oleh Institut Penyelidikan Perikanan, Batu Maung, Pulau Pinang pada tahun 2005. Sistem ini dibangunkan bagi tujuan mengenalpasti spesies ikan memandangkan kekurangan pakar taksonomi dan buku-buku rujukan untuk proses identifikasi. Sistem ini merupakan pangkalan data yang dibangunkan bagi menyimpan maklumat ikan marin, air tawar dan udang di Malaysia. Maklumat spesies ikan yang terdapat di dalam sistem ini fokus kepada ciri-ciri penting idenfikasi secara bergambar bagi memudahkan kerja-kerja identifikasi. Terdapat juga kemudahan carian spesies ikan melalui
bentuk ekor dan badan. Kemudahan ini dapat menjimatkan masa
carian bagi mengenalpasti spesies ikan serta dapat mengatasi
masalah kesilapan identifikasi. Spesies-spesies ikan yang terdapat di dalam pangkalan data ini kumpul melalui pendaratan ikan di pangkalan serta pemancing. Gambar-gambar yang diambil diproses untuk tujuan pengecaman sebelum dimasukan ke dalam pangkalan data. Laporan-laporan juga disediakan untuk kemudahan penyediaan laporan yang diperlukan dalam tempoh masa yang singkat. Sistem ini boleh diakses melalui laman web Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia di www.dof.gov.my di bawah Bahagian Penyelidikan.

Sistem e-Library IPP disasarkan untuk memperbaiki kelemahan pada
sistem tradisional yang digunakan sekarang. Beberapa ciri baru untuk
pihak pentadbir sistem dan pengguna telah diperkenalkan, seperti
berikut:
i) Pentadbir Sistem
??? Cara yang lebih mudah dan cepat untuk mengemaskini dan
mengendalikan rekod material
??? Membolehkan pentadbir mengawaselia pergerakan material
dan mengeluarkan notis pemulangan secara automatik
menerusi e-mel.
??? Sistem sandaran dan sistem keselamatan diujudkan.
??? Membolehkan pentadbir menguruskan sumber material di
samping membekalkan informasi material yang ada.
ii) Pengguna
??? Akses sistem secara online.
??? Kemudahan tempahan awal (advance booking).
??? Kemudahan untuk mencetak keputusan pencarian atau
menyimpannya sebagai salinan fail (soft-copy).
??? Sistem depositori, bagi pengguna yang ingin menyumbangkan
hasil kerja mereka dalam format salinan fail ke dalam arkib
perpustakaan.
Berdasarkan ciri inovasi yang dinyatakan di atas, sistem e-Library akan dibahagikan kepada dua komponen utama:
1. Perpustakaan digital : Akses secara online
: Pembelajaran secara kendiri
: Memaparkan informasi pada skrin PC
pengguna
2. Perpustakaan fizikal : Material yang tidak boleh didapati dalam
bentuk salinan fail
: Memaksimakan penggunaan bahan
bercetak
: Akses kepada material, Internet dan CD

Sistem ini dibangunkan bagi memenuhi keperluan yang digariskan
oleh pihak pengurusan IPP, seperti berikut:

??? Membolehkan aktiviti pemprosesan informasi dilakukan dengan
menggunakan teknologi rangkaian.
??? Membenarkan kakitangan IPP mengakses sistem secara online.
??? Mengujudkan sebuah organisasi pembelajaran di IPP.
Applikasi e-Library ini menggunakan pendekatan berpandukan menu bagi membolehkan pengguna mengakses informasi di dalamnya dengan mudah dan berkesan.

memudahkan kerja pembenihan di samping mengurangkan tekanan
pada ikan. Komponen-komponen Spawning Stretcher adalah beg
anti-stress, rangka penyokong yang diperbuat dari polyvinyl
chloride/besi, ruang gonad dan bekas pengumpul.

SmartWin:Tiub Sedut Air

Alat ini dihasilkan sebagai sistem alternatif kepada kaedah bekalan air laut sedia ada.SmartWin senang dipasang. Komponen utama SmartWin terdiri dari paip polyvinyl chloride (PVC) bersaiz 8 ince lebar dan 10 kaki panjang. Di bahagian bawah paip diisi dengan gravel bersaiz sederhana. Beberapa lubang (1mm) ditebuk bagi membolehkan air masuk kedalam paip. Air disedut menggunakan paip PVC bersaiz 2 inci yang dipasang di bahagian tengah tiub.

Sistem Asuhan Cents

Sistem tangki Cheap Efficient Nursery Tank System (CENTS) telah direka bagi mengatasi permasalahan ini. Sistem CENTS ini terdiri daripada beberapa komponen iaitu 20 unit tangki culvert bersaiz 180 liter, saluran air masuk, saluran air keluar, saluran pengudaraan dan sistem perparitan. Tangki CENTS yang (75 cm diameter, 52 cm tinggi, 45 cm dalam) disusun dalam 2 barisan yang disambungkan secara selari dengan paip bekalan air. Setiap tangki boleh memuatkan 1,000 ekor ikan bersaiz 2-3 cm dan setiap pusingan mengambil masa 4-5 minggu bagi mencapai saiz 7.5-10.0 cm. Pengurusan mutu air bagi sistem CENTS boleh dibuat secara aliran terus atau kitar semula. Kaedah aliran terus melibatkan air dari tangki simpanan mengalir terus ke dalam tangki CENTS dan melimpah keluar ke dalam saluran buangan.

Oxygen Stormer Alat untuk Kekalkan Ketepuan Oksigen

Oxygen Stormer merupakan alat yang direka oleh FRI Tg Demong
untuk meningkat dan mengekalkan kadar ketepuan oksigen dalam
tangki takungan dalam masa yang singkat. Komponen-komponen
OS terdiri dari batu pengudaraan, saluran pengagih dan pemberat.
Dengan menggunakan OS, kadar oksigen air laut dalam tangki
takungan dapat ditingkatkan kepada 6.57 (95.5%) dalam masa 2
minit dan kepada 7.23 ppm (103.1%) dalam masa 1 jam.

Fish Egg Harvester

Satu rekabentuk pemungut ideal dari segi keupayaan untuk
memungut telur yang tersenyawa telah di hasilkan oleh FRI Tg.
Demong. Komponen Fish Egg Harvester adalah, tangki gentian
kaca bulat, hapa 400 m dan polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Telur yang tersenyawa dalam tangki pembenihan akan mengalir keluar secara terus ke dalam Fish Egg Harvester di mana telur-telur tersebut akan dikumpul dan dibersihkan sebelum dimasukkan ke tangki asuhan. Inovasi ini berjaya menjimatkan masa, kos, meningkatkan produktiviti serta mudah digunakan.

Dillenia Suffruticosa, The Future Innovation Towards Eco-Friendly Product

Polystyrenes are harmful as it contains a lot of dangerous chemical that is foreign to our body. Besides, it consumes much time to disintegrate and it also leads to environmental pollution. By using Dillenia suffruticosa leaves, we compressed it to create DiSFoS (Dilenia suffruticosa Food Storage) container which is more eco-friendly and biodegradable than polystyrene. This kind of plant grows vigorously on eroded soil, wasteland, forest edges and swampy areas. It has leaves (35cm long) and an oval leaves that cabbage-like with slight toothed edges. By promoting and applying DiSFoS, it can substitute polystyrene to have a greener product that is harmless to the environment and provide better healthy consumption to consumer because of its non-chemical product but from nature itself.

In our project, the magnetism plays the biggest part on producing electric current. Basically, the main idea is combining the simple motor principle with simple generator principle. When this two mechanism is combined, then, we can generate cyclic electric current without using battery or any other sources of electric. In addition, the materials used for this project are affordable for everyone. We only use, copper wire, magnet, LED, clip paper or pin, iron rod and gears.

Transport Mechanism Across Ceramic Nanofiltration Membrane for Production of Isotonic Solution

The use of ceramic membranes has recently been gaining interest among many researchers. However, due to the complexity of the ceramic membrane, there is a need to investigate its transport behavior during the separation process. Ceramic NF membranes' filtration efficiency depends on steric (sieving) and electrical (Donnan) effects. Through these combination, there are may be high rejection rates of small uncharged solutes while the surface electrostatic properties allow monovalent ions to be reasonably well transmitted through with multivalents ions mostly retained. Transport equations used in this study are based on the extended Nernst-Planck equation, which is the fundamental relationship governing the transport of ionic species through membrane pores. The mass transfer in ceramic membrane will e more complicated compared to that in polymeric membranes due to the membrane surface charge effect.

Therapeutic Effect of Organic Extracts of Merremia Borneensis Plant of Sabah

Cancer is the third major cause of mortality, accounting for more than seven million deaths per year worldwide. In Malaysia, approximately two million people, representing 7% of the total population, suffer from different types of cancerous diseases, and the figure is estimated to double by 2035. While cancer is an incurable disease, prevention is considered as an important treatment in cancer control. Most drugs currently available in the markets for the treatment of incurable diseases have limited potential because they are very toxic or expensive, and thus beyond the reach of the majority of the people. Hence, treatments without these disadvantages are needed. Diet can play a vital role in the prevention of various incurable diseases such as cancer and diabetics. Medicinal plants, fruits as well as vegetables with diversified pharmacological properties have been shown to be rich sources of ingredients with potential to prevent the incurable diseases. There is now an urgent need to search for novel and effective ingredients that may prevent the various incurable diseases. Convolvulaceae is a large and economically important family of flowering plants, and it is commonly known as the legume family or pulse family. About 900-1000 species of tropical climbing plants in this family are native to southern Asia. The Borneo Island is considered to have the highest species diversity in the world. Some species are found on the Borneo Island. Most of the species are being used by the Sabah ethnic communities as herbal medicine. They are also using the Merremia borneensis for the treatment of cancer, breast cancer, and fever. The literature search has revealed that still no works have been done on this plant by past researchers. For this reason, the aim of this work was to investigate the total phenolics, flavonoids, and antioxidant activities as well as phytochemical profiling of different organic extracts of this species which is native to Borneo.

The Semiotic Interpretations and Perceptions of the Bajau(s) in Sabah

Issues on sign and signification system, known scientifically as semiotics, is the focal point of this study, specifically on matters pertaining to Bajau culture and tradition of the west and east coasts of Sabah. This study aims to highlight the link between two dominant perspectives through semiotics guided by a Saussurean and the Peircean model. In addition, the cultural comparison between both communities will also be elucidated and these facets play a crucial role in generating their own ethnic identity.
