WHOLEmath: Educational Game for Mathematic

WHOLEmath is a board game that uses the concept of hole and show to challenge children to solve certain puzzles. This educational game allows students to explore multiple Mathematics concepts (numbers, shapes and mathematics operations) by just changing the paper which represents various mathematical problems. The use of holes to challenge the students problem-solving skill is a unique and new way to get them excited and interested in the game.

Programme Pekongsian University-Keluarga (PUPUK)

PUPUK is a part of medical program at University Malaysia Sabah. Medical students follow up a rural family for five years. This is a novel approach to medical education which brings benefits to both the student and the community. The project takes place in the region of Kudat on the Northern tip of Borneo. This are was chosen for the project since it was one of the most deprived areas of Malaysia. Families with health or social problems are identified by community leaders. Students see the families three times a year and during this time they assess their health related behaviors. The students are given a selection of questionnaires which they can administer to the family in order to understand them better. During the last two years of medical school the students can attempt to change health related behavior such as smoking or diet. This work is supervised by a member of the faculty who see the students three times a year.

Nine Piece Tangram

The Nine-Piece Tangram is a set of polygonal shapes which can be combined to form various shapes including shapes of things. The objectives of this kit are to stimulate students interest in forming shapes and exploring patterns, and to assist students in understanding a variety of mathematical concepts. It can be used by teachers to alleviate students anxiety in learning mathematics and to assist them in grasping mathematical concepts such as Pythagoras Theorem and calculation of areas.

GIS Teaching Application For Borneo Regional Climate (GITAR)

GITAR is an interactive multi-layer GIS maps. It is a teaching aids, which translates the highly-technical scientific research ( on climate elements) into a schematic multimedia presentation that most laymen can easily relate. Borneo is selected as the case study. However, this is applicable and replicable to any tropical region. GITAR simplifies the concept of climatology. The interactive map diagram embedded in this project, is useful to communicate this complex subject more effectively. GITAR can be used either as a teaching tool or a support material in workshop.

There is increasing evidence related to personal finance mismanagement involving younger generation of Malaysians. Failure to manage personal finance affairs would result financial stress. Occupational psychologists warn that stress at work exhibits itself in such ways as demotivation, physical and mental withdrawal from task and ineffectiveness. Since literature has linked financial illiteracy and financial stress, this research aims to determine the level of financial literacy of university graduates as they are the future drivers of Malaysia's economy.

Integrating Time preference in An Automated Hybrid Sport Tournament Scheduling System

A sport tournament scheduling problem was being studied.Sport tournament scheduling is defined as the process of assigning essential sport activities in sequence with the time needed to complete each activity.It is a challenging job due to the wide variety of different needs and requirements that must be handled, either at professional or amateur level. The inefficiency of the solution, which is the schedule and a time consuming tasks are the motivation in investigating the problem of scheduling the sport tournament. Subsequently, a hybridized mechanism of constraints-based methodology and neighborhood search is presented encompassing three stages to generate an efficient complete schedule for the sport tournament. The main objective are to satisfy time constraints and preferences, which at the same time able to achieve fair distribution of break or rest times and game venues among the competing teams.

E-WayCool : Antaramuka Pengguna untuk Pengajaran Matematik Tahap 1

e-WayCool menggunakan aplikasi edutainment bagi model konseptual yang menggambarkan bagaimana pendekatan multimedia boleh digunakan untuk membantu proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran subjek Matematik Tahap 1 sekolah rendah serta mengekalkan warisan budaya iaitu Wayang Kulit (WK) di kalangan generasi muda di Malaysia. E-WayCool merupakan suatu alternative untuk mempertahankan WK daripada pupus ditelan zaman di samping menyokong proses pembelajaran dan pengajaran (P&P). e-WayCool menggunakan antaramuka pengguna Wayang Kulit Digital (DWK) untuk menyampaikan kandungan mengikut sukatan Kokurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR) bagi silibus pendidikan Matematik. Komponen-komponen utama e-WayCool (watak, muzik, lagu, situati, kondisi, scenario, warna) dipersembahkan dalam 5 bentuk perwakilan iaitu 2D animasi, visualisasi, audio, realism dan cinematografi dan seterusnya komponen ini diintegrasikan membentuk suatu model konseptual yang berasaskan teori reka bentuk interaksi (IxD) supaya lebih efektif dan efisien untuk proses P&P

BM Tutor : Kenali Ayat Bahasa Melayu

Penguasaan Bahasa Melayu (BM) yang lemah di kalangan pelajar terutama pelajar sekolah menengah dalam pembetukan ayat yang gramatis berpunca daripada kelemahan penguasaan tatabahasa yang baik. Permasalahan ini telah diakui oleh pengkaji BM dlama beberapa kajian tentang penguasaan BM yang dinilai berpunca daripada kelemahan pelajar mengenal jenis golongan kata dan pembentukan jenis frasa. Oleh yang demikian, pelbagai usaha telah dijalankan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan BM mereka. Dari segi teknologi, penghasilan aplikasi yang dapat membantu golongan ini mendalami struktur pembentukan ayat dan tatabahasa BM masih belum dibangunkan. Justeru itu, BMTutor dikaji untuk membantu masyarakat terutamanya para pelajar untuk mempelajari struktur pembentukan ayat dan tatabahasa BM secara interaktif. Pembelajaran melalui BMTutor akan menggambarkan struktur pembentukan ayat dari segi jenis struktur pembentukan frasa dan jenis golongan kata bagi setiap perkataan yang terlibat dalam sesebuah ayat. Gambaran yang diberi dipaparkan dalam bentuk pohon penghurai secara automatik. Pengguna boleh memasukkan ayat yang hendak dipelajari dan pohon penghurai akan dipaparkan. Setiap perkataan yang terdapat dalam gambaran pohon penghurai boleh dipilih untuk mempelajari atau melihat jenis-jenis attribut yang terlibat. Attribut yang dimaksudkan terdiri daripada jenis golongan kata, kata terbitan, terjemahan Bahasa Inggeris, imej, audio dan senarai contoh ayat. Senarai contoh ayat yang diberikan bertujuan untuk member gambaran kepada pengguna tentang perkataan yang dipilih agar boleh digunakan dalam konteks ayat yang lain. Setiap contoh ayat yang diberikan boleh dipilih untuk membuat gambaran pohon penghurai yang baru. Secara keseluruhannya, BMTutor memberi ruang kepada pengguna untuk mempelajari struktur pembentukan ayat dari segi frasa dan atrribut yang terlibat dalam setiap perkataan. Pembangunan BMTutor bertujuan untuk memudahkan pembelajaran struktur pembentukan ayat dan tatabahasa BM. Ia juga untuk meningkatkan kajian dalam pemprosesan BM agar boleh diguna pakai oleh pihak tertentu terutama pelajar. Ini kerana pembelajaran melalui visual seperti gambaran pohon penghurai yang dicadangkan akan lebih memudahkan pemahaman mereka disamping menjimatkan masa.
