Miras is the temporary shelters that could quickly and cheaply be built for immediate distribution to the earhquake victim expecially countries likes Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Turkey and other. This type of shelter designed to meet all requirement of not only suitable emergency shelter but that of integration of emergency shelter into longer life structure. Miras constructed at the basic guidelines of temporary shelter and established that shelters should be, quick and easily transported to remote mountainous village by foot, constructed of locally and culturally familiar materials and methods of construction, and built requiring no special tool equipment. The potential market were to propose to the Malaysian Government or any NGO to use this model as an emergency shelter.

Miniaturized Broadband Paper Based Substrate Antenna for Automotive Systems

A miniaturized C-band microstrip antenna embedded on sustainable paper materials has been designed for automotive systems. The optimization of the dipole element with slot embedded on the surface
of the proposed microstrip paper based substrate antenna has been carried out to have a broadband antenna. A novel algorithm has been developed based on Finite Element Method (FEM) to characterize the loss, bandwidth and beam positioning performance to be used for long range detection in automotive systems.

MGP - Modified Grouting Polymer

MGP is an impermeable material which has been tested in the laboratory and site application for its permeability characteristics. It it a novel innovative impermeable material which is an admixture between several materials including high performance materials such as bentonite and cement with local available material such as Batu Pahat Soft Clay (BPSC) and Oil Palm Clinker (OPC). This material is locally researched and can be applied for waterproofing functions. MGP may be in a semi-liquid or semi-solid form depending on its application. From testing conducted, it has been successfully applied in road construction especially where high water table and flood prone are is concerned. This material has also been tested in a trial road construction at RECESS Malaysia, UTHM, Johor. From the tests it was found that MGP has acted as waterproofing layer to avoid aqueous intrusion into the pavement structure. The material has also been tested to temporarily avoid leakages for pipes and other small leakages. By reducing the liquid limit of MGP, it can then perform as a layer of MGP mat that is as a prehydrated waterproofing liner.

Mesin Simulator Sistem Agihan Udara (TPU 3): Satu Pendekatan Pengajaran Visual

The motivation behind the invention of this simulator is based on the awareness regarding the high degree of difficulty index for understanding the topics Load Estimation and Design of Ventilation Channels amongst students studying Ventilation and Air Conditioning at Secondary Technical Schools, Community Colleges, Polytechnics and Institutions of Higher Learning. The design of TPU 3 is developed by combining the air duct component, meters and assessment that is observable and which can be analyzed visually by kinestatic movement. This application is clearly demonstrated by the simulator. Findings show that students are motivated to focus more attention during the lesson, and 17% of teaching period for the topics can be reduced.
It has also been established from finding s that there is a notable increase in the academic performance of students, improved interaction amongst students and the development of ideas based on discussion and analysis presented is clearly evident.

Kenaf-Foam Composite [K-FoC]: A New Revolutionary Acoustical Panel Material

Since the last decade, a great deal of emphasis has been focused on the development and application of natural fibre as reinforcement in composite materials in many industries. This is due to the natural fibres composites are undergoing a high tech revolution and are replacing conventional composites in high performance applications due to their advantages over conventional reinforcements. Fir this reason natural fibres reinforced composite are applicable and need broader research programmers. Moreover, due to the relatively high cost of synthetic fibres such as glass, plastic, carbon and Kevlar used in fibre reinforced composites and the health hazards of asbestos fibre, it becomes necessary to explore natural fibres, e.g. kenaf, cotton, sisal, jute, palm oil, paddy, ijok etc. In additional, the main advantages of these fibres are their availability in large quantities in many countries, good mechanical properties and ease to manufacture. In this research, the Kenaf Foam Composite (K-FoC) was produced with combination of synthetic resin as a matrix binder and kenaf powder as a filler (with percentage of 10%wt, 20%wt, 30%wt, and 40%wt). This research investigated the mechanical properties of the Kenaf Foam Composite (K-FoC) and its potential applications as SOUND ABSORPTION DEVICE (for the high frequency NOISE APPLICATION). Example of the PROTOTYPE PRODUCT is presented.

Intelligent Materials Tracking System (I-Matracs)

Intelligent Materials Tracking System (I-MATRACS) is designed to automate previously labour intensive and error prone transactions. Automated data collection using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for tracking materials involves the use of a tag (as a transponder) and a reader (as an interrogator). The RFID equipment included active RFID tags with a range of 100 metres/300 ft (read/ write range), with adjustable output power for a read/ write range that is tuneable up to 100 m/300 ft) for the RFID reader (interrogator). The tags have been selected based on the large memory capacity and make them suitable for use for all the proposed processes. The system started when the trucks carrying one or other material to be tracked are outfitted with rewritable RFID tags. RFID readers are installed at the loading areas. As the truck is loaded, information such as the date, time, product, loader number, and site location is automatically written to the memory of RFID tag by a reader in the loading area. This information is automatically sent to the staff???s system, which eliminates the time and errors associated with paper-based form and manual entry. Reporting is automated and provides instantaneous tracking of productivity by driver, date range, or site. The product can be divided into three main components, which are automated materials tracking (using RFID), central database (MS Access) and resource modelling (MS Project). Each component plays a different role in the system. The RFID equipment enabled the automated materials tracking while the central MS Access database provided the information of Delivery Status, and MS Project provided planning and scheduling of the project activities.
