For the first time, we employed nanotecnology in targeting eye parasite, acanthamoeba. We conjugated gold nanoparticles with chlorhexidine(CHX) and demonstrated their potent anti-acanthamoebic effect (but not against human cells), while silver-conjugate CHX nanoparticles had no effects.
