Enzymes continue to play an important role in human life where a large number of processes utilises enzymes at some stage or another. Industries utilizing such processes include those in industrial, environmental and food biotechnology. Solid-state fermentation (SSF) holds tremendours potential for the production of enzymes as current developments in biotechnology are rapidly creating new application for enzymes. This invetion is a system for use in a solid-state fermentation process, comprising a fermenter module with plural ports that allows the ease of input of the required substrates and removal of the fermented products. At the same time, a control module is operatively inter-engaged with the fermenter module as a means of controlling the fermentation parameters.
