Now days, agriculture is an important sector in Malaysian economy. Traditionally, agriculture materials have been shipped away for processing or disposed after post harvest. Diversification of the industry is crucial in encouraging economic stability and growth. Value-added processing would helps in agricultural diversification. Banana trunk, is a waste bi-product of banana cultivation. Hence, banana trunk fiber can be obtain for industrial purposes without any additional cost. Agriculture residues, produced from commercial processing of crop plants, are usually considered of a small inherent value and create disposal problem. However, these materials could in many cases represent an abundant, inexpensive and ready available source of renewable lignocellulosic biomass for different purposes. Banana plant is among those raw materials. In the world, 4,500,000 ha of cultivated area are occupied by banana plantations.Banana fiber plastic composite can be applied in the automotive industry such as for car dashboard, truck cover and upper interior part. This product also can be applied in the construction sectors. This products eventually will reduce the usage of polypropylene in the plastic industry at the same time utilize an agricultural residue to the fullest.
