Fish oils containing- fatty acids, i.e linolenic acid (ALAL), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA), have a vital role in our daily health. Their benefits include lowering of triglyceride/lipid level by lowering very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL, or bad cholesterol), lowering of blood pressure and antiatherogenic activity. The oils have also the ability to treat human arthritis.
Giant snakehead is a member of the species of Channa, within the Chinnidae family. this fish contains polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) up to 20%of the total lipid.
The fatty acid contents of the other freshwater fish were not reported.
