The Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Indicators Report is a combination of data from the studies conducted by MASTIC and secondary data obtained from other organisations/agencies.
The report provides detailed information on the achievements and educational trends in the field of S&T, human resource for S&T, public awareness on S&T, R&D activities, innovation, trading of technology, balance of payments of technology, patents, bibliometric and biotechnology information and communication technology (ICT).
The Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Indicators Report has been carried out by MASTIC biennially since 1994. To date, a total of 8 reports have been published until 2010.
Until year 2013, a total of nine reports have been published.
The information in report are prepared in accordance to the international standard, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to allow benchmarking and comparison at an international level.
The Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Indicators Report includes both primary and secondary data from organisations and agencies involved in the development of the science and technology indicators in Malaysia. The report also obtains comprehensive indicators to benchmark the national status and achievement previous years and also international comparison with ASEAN nations, OECD, The European Union (EU), China, Brazil and India.
Primary Data are obtained from the findings of MASTIC's studies such as the National Research and Development Study, The Public Awareness of Science and Technology, National Innovation Study and Bibliometric Study
Secondary Data are obtained from agencies which are involved with the development of science and technology indicators in Malaysia such as the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia Department of Statistics.
The upcoming STI Indicators Report is expected to be carried out in 2016 and will be completed in 12 months.
